On Sunday 25th July 2021 we saw the return of the historic Hoghton Sprint, one of the longest standing Motorcycle Sprint Events in Lancashire. Celebrating its 44th Year, there really was a sense of celebration with the competition being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Hoghton Tower basked in the sunlight with the early cloud cover dispersing to create perfect conditions for all riders taking part.
Amongst the riders were the team from Bowker Motorrad, Stuart Green and John Nichol both racing their BMW S 1000 RRs performing well in the morning practice runs.
Both riders were relaxed and ready for the afternoon racing to kick-off, so when the call came into the paddock for all racers to mount their bikes, John and Stuart were confident of what the afternoon would hold for them.
Stuart was first of the Bowker riders to take to the starting line, using the burnout board to prep his tyres before approaching the Marshalls North West start line stewards. John quickly followed up the 1/8 mile straight for the first of his attempts for the afternoon.
Both happy with the results of all of their runs throughout the afternoon, it was time for Stuart and John to wait to hear the results.
First to receive his result was Bowker Motorrad’s Head of Business John Nichol, claiming a trophy for third place in the Modern Superbike category. Stuart had to wait a little longer for his result, claiming the first place trophy for the same category, as well as recording the second faster time of the day overall.
A great day was had by all riders and spectators, and we would like to give a special thanks to both Hoghton Tower and Marshalls North West for a fantastic day.
