INEOS Automotive has unveiled the first limited edition vehicle from its newly created Arcane Works division, the INEOS Grenadier Detour.

Just 200 of the hand finished 4X4s will be produced, using bespoke design elements and working with UK craftsmen to allow customers to add their own personal style alongside custom-made specifications. Unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Detour retains all the Grenadier’s refined dynamics and offroad capabilities, while customers can select from an extensive range of external and internal design options to enhance both the vehicle’s level of personalisation and its long-distance comfort. Continuing to offer a choice of two straight-six, 3.0-litre BMW engines that have a proven track record in refined driving, the Detour will use an exclusively tailored exhaust system in petrol models to enhance the sound character and emotion of the vehicle.

George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director, INEOS Automotive says, “We chose the Arcane name for our new division because the limited-edition vehicles it creates will be so unique as to be rarely spotted in the wild. Working in small-batches and hand finishing the cars means we can give a level of individuality not found in the 4X4 market. For our first launch, Grenadier Detour felt like a fitting name as the Grenadier is for people who enjoy driving, and sometimes it’s worth taking the longer route.” Detour models will be identifiable by their unique 18-inch forged alloy wheels, a specially designed front grille with headlight surrounds, and four new dedicated paint finishes – Magma Red, Whiteout Blue, Squall Green and Storm Force Silver which are each polished by hand to enhance the finish. Along with the four exclusive colour options, Detour drivers seeking the ultimate in personalisation can select the Arcane Works bespoke paint option that uses a colour matching system which bases the paint colour on a sample provided by the customer or matched to an existing vehicle they may own. Their Detour will then be handsprayed in this one-off colour, and hand-polished to a high sheen in the UK. A specially created exterior contrast pack has been created that includes new colour options of the front and rear skid plates, roof rails and rear ladder, whilst exterior lighting has been decoloured to provide a sleek visual.

The cabin environment will offer a high level of personalisation with a choice two new satin finishes for the transmission tunnel, doors and air-vents, and tactile leathers and fabrics for key driver touch points. As well as the option of four fine-grain Bridge of Weir leathers for the quilted seat upholstery, and two cashmeres from Johnstons of Elgin for the headlining, all Detour models will feature a laser-etched aluminium door scuff plate displaying the vehicle’s limited-edition status.

Understated Arcane Works exterior and interior badging is created by British jewellers, Vaughtons. Each run of limited-edition vehicles from Arcane Works will showcase a unique set of features, and carry a specifically tailored name. Arcane Works will also become a test bed for new technologies and systems for future INEOS vehicles, such as uprated engine modifications, new chassis systems, and many new materials and features.

INEOS Automotive has launched its first limited edition, the Grenadier 1924, to celebrate the first 100 years of iconic clothing brand Belstaff. Available globally from the 26th June 2024, only 1,924 of the vehicles will be produced and each will carry a unique limited edition number and distinctive Belstaff centenary badging.

Since its launch the Grenadier has partnered with the Belstaff brand in offering two feature packages based on iconic Belstaff jackets: the Trialmaster and Fieldmaster, but this limited edition takes further style cues from the enduring clothing brand. The Grenadier 1924 will be immediately identifiable by its bold contrasting colour palette of Magic Mushroom and Inky Black, exclusive gloss black diamond-cut 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels and a dechromed black grille trim with front and rear skid plates in dark grey.

Based on the flagship Fieldmaster package, the Grenadier 1924 has a dark green finish on the dashboard, centre stack, overhead console, switchgear and door cards, as well as a black saddle leather trim on the steering wheel, handbrake grip and passenger grab handle, complemented by dark grey headlining.

“Style that lasts a century deserves to be celebrated and the Grenadier 1924 is both great looking and a seriously assured drive. Belstaff has been trusted by generations of bikers, sportspeople and trend setters, so we know we’re in good company.”

Lynn Calder – CEO, INEOS Automotive

Both part of the INEOS portfolio, Belstaff and INEOS Automotive share the same philosophy of producing authentic, high-quality products that are designed and engineered to last. The Grenadier 1924 will be shown for the first time to the public at a centenary event between 24th – 28th May in Stoke-on-Trent, the city where Belstaff was born. Taking over one of the city’s famed potteries, Belstaff will present an immersive brand experience, including a display of rare pieces sourced from around the globe. The weekend will also include talks, screenings and workshops, and will be open to members of the public, as well as invited VIP guests, collectors and members of the Belstaff community, past and present.

The Grenadier 1924 will be available to order 26th June 2024.

The INEOS Grenadier is a first-class vehicle that has super drivability and incredible performance, writes Paul Agnew.

If you appreciate the finer things…. like designer clothes, smart watches or any items that exude excellence and are totally fit for purpose.

If you are seeking a vehicle of status, one that combines sophistication, strength, simplicity and style.

If you have got this far …. then please, feel free to read on.

For INEOS has quite possibly, very probably, almost definitely produced something to tickle your good-taste buds.

The Grenadier is a car (loosely termed) for utilitarians, enthusiasts, urban explorers, weekenders and high achievers.

Essentially people like you; people who know the difference.

A 4×4 that is practical day-to-day but more than capable of working outdoors; a hobby horse for exploring which values high-quality and can provide perfect transport for the entire family during the week and a perfect companion for weekend adventures.

In a nutshell, successful and driven.

Not trying to be pristine, or fake or a poser simply interested in top show.

More a premier product, engineered to the highest specification, expert at working and doing. Delivering experiences and outcomes that will blow your mind.

Aimed at the professional consumer … now affectionately known known as the “Prosumer”.

The Grenadier is available in Trailmaster or Fieldmaster editions, both of them workhorses producing optimum performance day-in-and-day-out, irrespective of weather or ground conditions.

And while offering off-road perfection and incredible performance over the toughest terrains, it also manages to be something of a funky machine with a lighter side.

You certainly don’t have to be a landowner, builder, farmer or rural vet to appreciate its overall charm and appeal. The Grenadier is about super driveability on any road from town, to motorway to twisty mountain pass.

As great to drive on the road as it is off, this is a ready-for-anything, accept-any-challenge machine of incredible capability.

Under the supervision of super-rich chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe (motor enthusiast and experienced adventurer), INEOS has identified a gap in the market for a stripped back yet immensely attractive 4×4 – a head-turner, engineered for modern day compliance, reliability and fun.

At first glance it could appear to be something of a niche vehicle. It isn’t. Trust me, the buying market is much wider.

You start up the engine with a key, one of several throwback features to times when cars were not over-complex and unnecessarily crammed with zillions of might-use-might-not-use gadgets.

You actually press buttons and turn dials – there is even a manual handbrake; nothing is complicated, but that’s not to say this is old school, far from it.

All the necessary modernity is here with every detail to satisfy the demands of the urban sprawl (yes, don’t worry Apple CarPlay is right there), as is an automatic gearbox and a whole host of up-to-the-minute features.

You’ll find a refined interior with a spacious and light cabin and super supportive seats to ensure a smooth ride. Civilised on every journey with absolutely no need to trade on-road comfort for off-road capability.

Yes it’s rugged and durable, and seriously capable, but there’s far more to it than meets the eye with a range of specifically-designed, warranty-backed and fully-tested accessories.

Take the rear 70/30 door, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks to a foldable tailgate camp table specially designed to fit and taking up minimum space taken. No bouncing around off-road, just a handy food/drink preparation surface that’s rugged, rattle-free and ready-to-go.

There is a generous palate of traditional bodywork colours and interior styles to select from – even a high-vis wrap!

Plenty of choice and options … and when you need to make a move or move some stuff, then the willing Grenadier more than pulls its weight.

You can load it, tow it, drag it, recover it or strap it to the roof with a staggering 3.5 tonnes of towing capacity and up to 2,000 litres of loadspace.

Drive the Grenadier and expect to find an admiring audience whenever you rock up … country show, race track, school gate or shopping centre.

For me, it is more than a vehicle for one purpose, more a versatile vehicle for multi-purpose, easily capable of fitting in and significantly enhancing most lifestyles.

The Grenadier is many things. Go along and experience it, for this, my Prosumer friends, is a genuine gear shift in modern motoring.

Experience it for yourself. Book your test drive today.

Test drive subject to applicant status and availability.

INEOS Automotive has launched the Grenadier Commercial – a customised version of the 4X4 that qualifies owners to reclaim VAT and receive lower benefit in kind (BIK) tax rates.

Replacing the existing two-seat Utility Wagon in the model line-up, the new Grenadier Commercial features a full-length flat floor with a robust floor-to-roof cargo barrier behind the two front seats, and can carry a standard 1,200mm x 800mm Euro pallet. Aimed at those who need a 4X4 for professional use, the vehicle has a braked 3.5-tonne towing capacity, more than 2000 litres of load space and 5.5 tonnes of winching power for recovering itself or other vehicles.

The Grenadier Commercial will be immediately identifiable by the features that qualify it for VAT exemption, which includes replacing the rear passenger windows with aluminium panels, blacked out glazing on the 30:70 split rear doors and permanently disabled chassis mounting points to prevent a second row of seats being added.

CUSTOMERS IN THE UK HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THIS ADDITION TO OUR MODEL LINE-UP SINCE WE LAUNCHED IN 2022, SO WE’RE PLEASED TO MAKE THIS AVAILABLE SO QUICKLY.  THE VERSATILITY OF THE GRENADIER PLATFORM ALLOWS THIS LEVEL OF MODIFICATION WITHOUT ANY COMPROMISE TO THE DRIVING DYNAMICS OR OFF-ROAD CAPABILITIES.
INEOS Grenadier Commercial Cargo Bay

Combining rugged British spirit and design with German engineering rigour, the INEOS Grenadier is the ideal companion for those who need a hard-working vehicle that still provides modern comfort and refinement. The backbone of the Grenadier is a full box-section ladder frame chassis, with heavy-duty solid beam axles, a two-speed transfer case and up to three locking differentials. It is powered by a BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged inline six-cylinder gasoline or diesel engine, which has been specifically calibrated for this application.

The Grenadier Commercial will be built in Hambach, France, at the manufacturing facility INEOS Automotive acquired from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021, with conversion undertaken in the UK by Pontypool-based engineering specialists EDC Limited.

The body-on-frame construction of the Grenadier has provided huge versatility for customisation, with the five-seat double cab Chassis variant of the Grenadier Quartermaster pick-up aimed at specialist vehicle converters and commercial body builders worldwide starting production later this month.

Prices for the Grenadier Commercial will start at £51,931 excluding VAT and OTR, with orders opening on 2 May 2024.

INEOS Automotive has launched a five-seat double cab Chassis variant of the Grenadier Quartermaster pick-up, aimed at specialist vehicle converters and commercial body builders worldwide.

Developed in tandem with the Quartermaster pick-up, the Chassis Cab is engineered to deliver a class-leading combination of off-road capability and load-carrying versatility, with the comfort, safety, refinement and features that today’s drivers expect.

George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director, INEOS Automotive, comments, “In the first year since the Grenadier launched we have already seen a number of specialist conversions, particularly with emergency services such as fire, police and inshore rescue, so launching the Quartermaster Chassis Cab is a natural step that takes our off-road expertise into many commercial areas that need a class leading 4X4.”

Sharing the Quartermaster’s 3227mm wheelbase – 305mm longer than the Grenadier Station Wagon – the Chassis Cab features an exposed ladder frame behind the passenger cabin, giving customers and aftermarket vehicle converters a wide range of body-building options that are enhanced by the 3,500kg towing capability.

The Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab will be built in Hambach, France, at the manufacturing facility INEOS Automotive acquired from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021. Built on the same production line as the other Grenadier models, the Chassis Cab shares its fiveseat double cab, full box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, twospeed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials with the Quartermaster. Power comes from a choice of BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged inline six-cylinder petrol or diesel engines, driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

“The Grenadier’s body-on-frame construction already provides huge versatility for customisation, and we know from customer configurations that our vehicles are being used equally between commercial and leisure users. The ‘blank canvas’ Chassis Cab variant allows even greater versatility, from the basic trayback for agricultural use through recovery and emergency services to tourism, presenting an ideal platform for an overlanding camper.” Adds Ratcliffe.

INEOS Automotive has unveiled its brand new 4X4 vehicle, the INEOS Fusilier, following the confirmation of a zero-emission model line in May 2022. The new vehicle will deliver world-class off-road capability, with zero compromise to on-road performance, and offers both zero and low emission options.

Unveiled in London by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it was confirmed that alongside the previously announced all-electric powertrain (BEV), a low emission range-extender electric is in development to ensure the INEOS Fusilier meets the broadest range of global consumer needs whilst pushing towards decarbonisation. The range-extender option consists of a small petrol engine that powers a generator to maintain the charge level of the battery for when external charging isn’t available. Confirmation of the alternative powertrain details and launch timings are expected by autumn 2024.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS says, “As we developed this vehicle, we quickly concluded that in order to move towards decarbonisation but continue making cars that consumers want to drive, we need a mix of powertrain technologies. BEVs are perfect for certain uses: shorter trips and urban deliveries, but industry and governments need to have realistic expectations around other technologies that can help accelerate the necessary pace of change. That is the reason we are offering an additional powertrain for the Fusilier, one that dramatically reduces emissions but has the range and refuelling capabilities needed.

Developed in conjunction with industry-leading automotive supplier, Magna, which will also manufacture the vehicle in its facility in Graz, Austria, the INEOS Fusilier will represent a unique proposition for customers. Building on the Grenadier’s DNA with a modern direction and distinctive identity, the new 4X4 will be slightly shorter in length and slightly lower in height. It will be built on a bespoke skateboard platform with a steel top hat and underbody, and aluminium doors and closures.

INEOS partnered with Magna on the development of the Grenadier station wagon and Quartermaster pick-up. As one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers and independent contract manufacturers, Magna produces a number of conventional ICE, hybrid and electric vehicles for various automakers. Part of the development process for the INEOS Fusilier will include a rigorous testing programme on Austria’s Schöckl mountain, close to Magna’s complete vehicle assembly facility in Graz.

Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, comments, “Announcing our third model line is another significant milestone for INEOS Automotive, cementing our intent as an automotive manufacturer – like our full vehicle line-up, we are here for the long-haul.”

Demonstrating its wider commitment to future decarbonisation, INEOS Automotive also unveiled a Grenadier Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology Demonstrator at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023.  The Demonstrator proves that the technology for a hydrogen powered 4X4 is capable and ready for production, but the refuelling infrastructure needs to be in place before it is commercially viable.

Bowker Ribble Valley in Osbaldeston has confirmed a new partnership to provide INEOS Grenadier support vehicles for the 2024 Legend Fires North West Stages.

The partnership means the rally will return in 2024, after a year’s hiatus, with three INEOS Grenadier vehicles exclusively driven by safety-trained professionals during the event.

The 2024 Legend Fires North West Stages will be the opening round of the Probite British Rally Championship and the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Championship. It will feature 58 stage miles over 10 special stages on closed public roads across Lancaster, Wyre and the Ribble Valley.

The iconic event will take place on the 22nd to 23rd of March 2024. The rally will kick off with a ceremonial civic send-off from Garstang’s High Street and a triumphant return for a champagne finish, marking innovative and spectator-friendly features of the event, supported by Garstang Town Council.

The rally will be hosted at Myerscough College’s Bilsborrow campus, serving as the Rally Headquarters, Central Service and Scrutineering location. Rallying enthusiasts and students at the College benefit from firsthand experience, enhancing the educational aspect of the partnership.

Speaking about the new partnership, Richard Rawlings, for Bowker Ribble Valley, said: “Bowker are proud to support the Legend Fires North West Stages in 2024. The INEOS Grenadier vehicles are robust and dependable, making them an ideal choice for support vehicles for one of the highlights of the North West autosport calendar.”

“The Legend Fires North West Stages attracts thousands of people each year. It is a great opportunity to see some of the best rally drivers in the country competing on some of the most challenging and exciting roads in Lancashire. We can’t wait for the event.”

2024 North West Stages

Rally Director Mark Hothersall from Legend Fires North West Stages said: “Having Bowker Ribble Valley on board as our support vehicle supplier is a fantastic addition to our event. The 2024 Legend Fires North West Stages promises to be the best yet. The rally’s return is a testament to the dedication of all involved, and we can’t wait to deliver a rally that we hope lives long in the memories of rallying enthusiasts and the local community.”

The North West Stages was first organised in 1995, but in 2019, was only the second car rally in England to take advantage of the updated Road Traffic Act legislation, which allows Councils to close public roads for motorsport events. The 2024 event will run exclusively on closed public highways, covering 58 miles over 10 special stages. Each stage will take place on the Saturday.

The All-New INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster was recently unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed, becoming the newest edition to the Grenadier family.

Bowker Ribble Valley will be the sole Lancashire partner for the new INEOS Grenadier 4X4, when it is launched later this year.

The agreement will see Bowker operate in partnership with INEOS from the automotive retailer’s existing Bowker Ribble Valley dealership on the A59 in Osbaldeston near Blackburn. It is one of 24 UK sites that are among the first 160 locations to be confirmed in markets around the world.

New signage has already been installed and the Bowker Ribble Valley dealership will offer a full INEOS aftersales facility to complement their partner status. The Bowker partnership with INEOS Automotive will be overseen by managing director Chris Eccles, supported by the existing Bowker Ribble Valley team.

Paul Bowker, Bowker Motor Group chief executive, said: “It is a huge privilege to be chosen by INEOS to be their nominated partner in Lancashire. We have already established award-winning motor retail experiences in Preston and Blackburn with some of the world’s most prestigious motoring brands. The partnership with INEOS is the next exciting chapter for us.

“INEOS brings a fresh perspective to 4X4 development and manufacturing. The Grenadier combines rugged British spirit with German engineering rigour; a truly uncompromising 4X4 built from the ground up. We look forward to building another successful partnership worthy of the Lancashire motoring community.”

INEOS will work with Bowker to establish the new partnership. The process includes an intensive INEOS training programme for sales executives and workshop technicians – beginning in May.

“We have worked tirelessly for over a year to find retail partners that share our enthusiasm and excitement for the Grenadier,” said Jack Stanley, regional business manager UK and Ireland for INEOS Automotive. “We have so far established a global network of over 160 partners who understand 4X4 users and their requirements, and have a proven track record for exceptional customer service. We are working with these partners to ensure they are ready to offer Grenadier customers and owners the advice, guidance and support they need.” By the end of 2022, INEOS plans to have a network of 200 sales and service sites for the Grenadier in over 50 countries, including established dealer groups, 4X4 specialists and agricultural equipment dealers. The aim is for the majority of customers in the UK to always be within 45 minutes of an official sales and service location.

SUPPORTING RIDERS AS THE OFFICIAL OFF-ROAD VEHICLE PARTNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL GS TROPHY 2022

22 teams. 1,300 kilometres of tough terrain. And us. In September 2022, 20 Grenadiers will join a total of 60 riders tackling the wilds of Albania through the mountains, valleys, rivers, forests, and along the beaches of this little-explored country.

TESTING THE LIMITS

The Grenadiers, some driven by INEOS Automotive mechanics, will travel everywhere the bikes do over the seven-day event. Keeping up with the teams and navigating the same brutal course while fully laden with provisions and supplies for the riders. A challenging job that will call on all the vehicle’s 4X4 performance, capability, and durability.

Every other year, owners and riders of BMW’s GS motorbike range gather to compete in this highly demanding off-road challenge. Previous events have taken place in New Zealand, Mongolia, Thailand, Canada, Patagonia, South Africa, and Tunisia. 2022 is the first time the International BMW Motorrad GS Trophy will be held in Europe.

Part one of our rugged 4X4’s involvement is the recce. Six Grenadiers will help scout the route before the start of the event proper. Then, from 1st to 14th September, they’ll be joined by 14 other Grenadiers, to shadow the bikes and riders on the tough course.

WE’RE DELIGHTED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT OUR FRIENDS AT BMW WITH INEOS GRENADIERS FOR THIS YEAR’S EVENT. THE INTERNATIONAL BMW MOTORRAD GS TROPHY IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST OFF-ROAD CHALLENGES. A GREAT TEST FOR THE RIDERS AND THEIR MACHINES – AND FOR THEIR GRENADIER SUPPORT VEHICLES. EXACTLY THE SORT OF THING WE BUILT THE GRENADIER FOR.”

Mark Tennant, Commercial Director, INEOS Automotive.

Stay tuned for more in the build-up to the event, and keep an eye out for the Grenadier in Albania. Click the link to find out more about this ultimate off-road biking challenge – and its four-wheeled support crew.
